Non-fiction Friday

If you're going to read, you might as well take a break from Harry Potter to learn some new things!  So every Friday I'll be posting something about non-fiction; it'd be awesome if you guys would chime in with books you've read or want to discuss.  I'll start off with a few recommendations!
Probably everyone has already read this book, but it's a good one.  'The Lost City of Z' is written by David Grann and tells the story of his search for a lost city in the Amazon.  It's not dry at all and reads more like an action novel.  The man who inspired this book, British explorer Percy Fawcett, is like a real life version of Indiana Jones.  He actually disappeared (and we assume died) while searching for the city in the early 1900's and David Grann decided to recreate Fawcett's journey to see if he could find the lost city.  Does he?  Well I'll leave that for you to find out!
The next book on the list is 'The Fingerprints of the Gods' by Graham Hancock.  This one is a little more on the fringe of science.  Basically the author is making the case that before recorded history there was a technologically advanced civilization that was mostly destroyed by an unknown cataclysm.  Now before you laugh he put a lot of effort and research into this book.  He focuses on the Great Pyramid and the Piri Reis map, among other evidence.  He makes a good case and it took him five years to research the book.  It's a very interesting read and will make you wonder why anyone ever thought the Great Pyramid was built as a tomb.  The book is a little dry but give it a try; there's a lot of information to be had.
Now for the last book!  This one I haven't read but it sounds very interesting and I've put it on my TBR list.  It's called 'Dead Mountain: The Untold True Story of the Dyatlov Pass Incident'.  If you don't know what the Dyatlov Pass incident is you might want to google it, as it'll take too long to really do the story justice here.  Suffice to say it's a very mysterious and tragic incident and I'm looking forward to reading more about it.
That's it for this week!  What non-fiction book have you read that you'd like to recommend?  Let me know in the comments!  Happy Friday and happy reading!
